Shamrock Aid 2021

  • IATSE Local 8 Stagehands Union Hall Ballroom 2401 South Swanson Street Philadelphia, PA, 19148 United States (map)

We are thrilled to share details of an exciting event that will help honor and support the tristate region’s large and proud Irish community. As you likely know by now, the ongoing pandemic has resulted in the cancellation of the Philadelphia St. Patrick's Day Parade for the second consecutive year. As a result, we three Philadelphia organizations are collaborating to stage a major fundraiser for Irish causes in the region.

The Philadelphia St. Patrick's Day Parade Board, the Irish Society and 298, Inc., the charitable arm of IBEW Local 98, have come together to stage Shamrock Aid, a live and virtual fundraiser event for Irish causes in the tristate region. The event will take place Wednesday, March 10th, from 7 - 9p and will feature live performances by popular local Irish bands, comedians and Irish Step Dance schools, along with brief speeches, toasts and poetry readings by prominent members of the region's Irish community. The live portion of the event is by-invitation only and limited to just 100 guests to comply with COVID-19 safety protocols. It will take place at the IATSE Local 8 Stagehands Union Hall Ballroom at 2401 South Swanson Street in South Philadelphia. The event will also be livestreamed by IATSE Local 8 technicians over an event website (www.shamrockaid.com), Facebook Live and YouTube.

For the second consecutive year, the pandemic has forced the cancellation of Philadelphia's annual St. Patrick's Day Parade and virtually every other event that raises funds for Irish causes in the city and region. But we Irish are a resilient people and we won't let COVID-19 stop us from celebrating our heritage and raising money for the charities we support. The show must go on - and it will. We are currently recruiting musical artists, comedians and Irish Step Dancers to perform on March, 10th. As soon as the list of artists is finalized, we will provide the names on our website and Facebook Page.

The funds we three presenting partner organizations hope to raise will come through sponsorships, including Food and Beverage for the live show at $5000; livestreamed, in-show "Irish Toasts" for $5.000; and digital ads at the $250, $500 and $1,000 levels.
